Fort Street Bands

The Fort Street High School Instrumental Music Program consists of 14 ensembles, including 4 wind bands, 3 orchestras, 3 jazz bands, 2 vocal groups and 2 percussion ensembles. The IMP caters for approximately 250 students from years 7 – 12.

The ensembles that will be performing for the Kettering audience are the Wind Ensemble, the String Ensemble and the Stage Band.

The Wind Ensemble is the premier wind band at Fort St. The group will be competing at the Australian National Band Championships in Hobart over Easter. Last year the ensemble placed second in the Junior B Grade division of the Nationals and won a Silver award at the NSW School Band festival.

The String Ensemble is an elite ensemble of senior string players at Fort St. The ensemble is often called upon to represent the school at Departmental events such as Principal for a Day and gallery openings.

The Stage Band was placed first in the Intermediate division of the Sydney Eisteddfod in 2009. The majority of the players also play in the Wind Ensemble.
